<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Wow, Brian really tore this one up, adding what I think is another cook in the second part. (Sneaky-snake style). Nice.
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Cook: The top left puzzle is much simpler than the panels seem to warrant; push any corner block to the left panel, then put the crossover below the button and you're done. Also, only three panels are necessary for the steel puzzle at the bottom.

Bot Brawl Wed 10 Aug 2005 22:31
<John Lewis> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 149 moves (old: 151).
Clever level!

THE 411 Wed 10 Aug 2005 10:14
<Tom 7> Solution recovery doesn't automatically optimize (except by truncating the solution when you get to the exit), so if you like 'em to be tidy, optimize with ctrl-o from the solution menu.

But if you really like them to be tidy, you can just find the trivial 27 move solition... what is the point of this level?

<John Lewis> This level is awesome...I finally beat it! Hats off to Josh on such a great puzzle...

Skills Training: sphere pushing (200) Tue 09 Aug 2005 22:16
<Max> I like how the exit falls asleep at 200 as if bored by your lack of sphere-pushing skills.

Dalek Malfunction Tue 09 Aug 2005 22:14
<Max> (SPOILER) Cook: Went underneath and bypassed most of the puzzle.

Guesswork Tue 09 Aug 2005 22:12
<Max> (SPOILER) Wow, my ctrl-0 solution on this one is 1005 moves... I feel like this has some bothersome implications that are best left alone.

THE 411 Tue 09 Aug 2005 22:11
<Max> Cool, solved this with a 511-move ctrl-0 haha...

bottrap mirror 2 Tue 09 Aug 2005 22:08
<Max> (SPOILER) I like how if you mess up the first time you get a few more chances ;).

Assortment Tue 09 Aug 2005 21:55
<Max> (SPOILER) This puzzle definitely has an old-school Escape vibe to it, despite the new transponder technology. Man, it's still hard for me to remember that transponders are pushable!

Don't Get Off My Back (v2) Tue 09 Aug 2005 20:25
<John Lewis> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 113 moves (old: 121).
Awesome mod!

Symmetry II: Price Check Tue 09 Aug 2005 19:27
<John Lewis> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 286 moves (old: 306).
Probably beatable...nice concept!

Guesswork Tue 09 Aug 2005 15:52
<Tom 7> BTW Brian: Ice floors were a great part of Chip's Challenge and I'd like to have something like them in Escape. (I'm not sure that's possible with the way it's currently implemented, unless only players and bots slide on them.) Why do you think they would or should be hide-able though?

Dalek Malfunction Tue 09 Aug 2005 15:51
<Mike> yes, i did it in 23, too.
but there was no solution(exept the original) in the list.

now, there are my (untitled) solution and the original. but no speedrun.

if i look on the internet page of escape, there is my name for the speed record *g*

In the end, i'm not sad if it weren't a record, but it is confusing, that it says on the one hand "no record" an on the other Hand "shortest solution by mike"

:-)

<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Sweet, ctrl-0 worked for me too, giving me a unfocused 81 move solution.

This level is amusingly cruel and shows off a cute and unexpected bit of hidden information that is possible. Very clever! In fact, I checked, and these tiles are pixel perfect identical with a bot on top of them, so not even the most eagle-eyed players could figure this out with anything but exhaustive search.

I hope people use this for good, not evil. ;)
<bpotetz> OMG - I solved this one using control-0. A beautiful, meandering 121 move solution. Finally my obsessive level playing pays off.

Its a good point that bots can add a little hidden info to the game. But that's alright, because the precedent means its OK to add other potentially hide-able (but otherwise nifty) tiles, like ice floors, which might cause all movable blocks to behave like gold blocks until they hit normal floor again. Could make for interesting semi-sokoban level styles...

<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 147 moves (old: 151).
Ah, yes, the teleport is a good shortcut!

Skills Training: sphere pushing (200) Mon 08 Aug 2005 20:38
<John Lewis> Got it! This one is cool...

Dalek Malfunction Mon 08 Aug 2005 15:41
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Brandon: your levels would probably be liked better if you were more careful about making sure that the solution you intend is the only one. Lots of your levels have been cooked (check the ratings)...
<Tom 7> Mike: what's the length of your solution? It looks like Doom did it in 23 moves.

The record that's shown at the bottom of the screen is just the one from the last update, so it doesn't reflect very new records.
<Mike> (SPOILER) Added solution "Speed":
speedrecord function doesn't work, but my solution is still faster than the current solution.?!
<Doom> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 23 moves (old: 69).
Didn't use upper half of the level

bottrap mirror 2 Mon 08 Aug 2005 08:47
<Feanor> Just Curious Brandon, What'd you think of "Bottrap Mirror: Realoaded"?

Scuba Diving V: King of the Fish People Sun 07 Aug 2005 21:23
<mjn> (SPOILER) ...whoops, which is exactly what you said. Sorry, guess I can't read today.
