Might be a cook because it's so simple.

<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Damn, Doom, your solution is like a thousand times slicker than mine. Nice.

Black and White (v2) Fri 01 Apr 2005 00:30
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Wow, well, thanks. ;)

I guess a lot of people cooked it without realizing. I am surprised that anyone who cooked the original found it difficult; maybe I am a bit too close to the level to see why I'm wrong, but the whole point of this is to "lead you down the garden path" by having a fairly obvious thing to do at each point, but then burn you at the very last step. But the cook allowed you to recover from that without thinking ahead much. Anyway, I'm much more satisfied with this new version, even if the charm of the level lies in something I don't really perceive. =)

<mjn> Wow, I had no idea that was a cook--I thought I'd used pretty much everything. (And it look me like an hour, too!)

BTW, I think this is my favorite of all Escape levels.

Black and White (v2) Thu 31 Mar 2005 20:25
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Max, it's true.. this also totally ruins that level you made where you have to deduce the panel destinations, I forgot the name. But I want there to be as little hidden information as possible, so I think this is better (even if it wrecks some things that were previously nice). Oh well.

And yes, the cook was bypassing the puzzle on the left. That was really the whole point of the level in the first place, because the rest is pretty trivial.

Chinese Remainder Theorem Thu 31 Mar 2005 20:22
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Well, you would have been pretty sorry when you found out that the server wouldn't accept your level because the solution was too long. ;)

Chinese Remainder Theorem Thu 31 Mar 2005 17:50
<bpotetz> (SPOILER) Here is another level where the solution is encoded in the number of moves.

Note how easily I could have made the smallest solution length larger than default speed run length. No one would have been able to defeat the default! But I didn't feel like having a megabyte sized solution hanging around my esp file. Either that, or I'm nice.

The Blue Room Thu 31 Mar 2005 17:23
<Max> Man, this one seems so easy, but I'm stumped... That certainly is your specialty of late, Jason. Aside from your levels that seem so hard and stump me, that is...

Black and White (v2) Thu 31 Mar 2005 17:22
<Max> (SPOILER) P.S. Did the cook involve being able to bypass the puzzle on the left? Because that's how I used to solve it... (No longer a problem, of course.)
<Max> (SPOILER) As stylish as ever! My one regret is that the new panel animation shows you which tiles they activate. I remember being thoroughly satisfied when I realized that those two panels activated "through" the wires. That was a really cool way of communicating what was going on before the animation existed. Of course I do agree that, on the whole, panel animation has been a good change...
