The Dalek Question II Sat 02 Jul 2005 20:29
<John Lewis> Moved to graveyard:
This level was kind of pointless to begin with...

Reversi Sat 02 Jul 2005 20:14
<John Lewis> So far, I've found only one way to solve this level. If anyone manages to come up with a different solution, please upload it!

My Friend Sat 02 Jul 2005 20:13
<John Lewis> Hopefully a better use of the block puzzle from "Drawing the Line." :-)

<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 109 moves (old: 114).
Cook: Also, you can beat it by just blocking the lasers. (There goes my cleverly optimized speed record..)
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 114 moves (old: 130).
Well, it's kinda fun to speed run, but this level is too easy to solve with 'undo' around and I think even the "real" solution is too transparent, since the title just tells you. Perhaps it would be better if it was less clear which panels were useful and which were useless?

<bpotetz> (SPOILER) > A 18th panel could be added two squares above the 17th.

Yeah, true. I didn't want to add any more cheat-panels than already existed, though. Anyway, this was a fun original concept, Doom.
<bpotetz> Phew! Thanks, noname - good job. That certainly is not the hardest level ever, but I'm claiming the title for longest unsolved level, at 98 days. Who dare challenge me?

I guess maybe I should submit some new levels, now that mine are all finished. Maybe over vacation I will.

<noname> (SPOILER) To Brian: A 18th panel can be added two squares above the 17th panel...

Anyway, it seems that the possibility to go beyond 15 seems to lie in the fact that some of the panels are too close to each other, like the relation of the 3rd and 4th panels. I wonder if it's possible to go beyond 15 if adjacent panels are distant enough. Of course, it's not difficult to show that with n blocks, we can have 2^^n - 1 panels.
<noname> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 213 moves (old: 999999).

Too Many Lasers Sat 02 Jul 2005 10:06
<noname> (SPOILER) Doom, you hide the purpose of the green switch so well that I end up solving it without ever realizing what the green switch actually does. Anyway, the level is still very difficult with or without the green switch...
<noname> (SPOILER) Cook: Did not use the green or red switch.
