Collapses (v4) |

<John Lewis> Brilliant! I solved it last night. This is one of the greatest levels ever!! Very clever, especially how you push the marbles in the same order every time...
<Tom 7> Brian: It would help me if you could zip up your whole escape directory and send it to me (before doing anything that might make the problem go away), since if it's crashing predictably then that means it's not handling some (probably broken) data correctly, when it should be. I can probably fix it for you.
If updating doesn't fix the problem with the Deleted dir, then it's probably a problem in your player file, like a bad solution. You probably won't lose any solutions: the game keeps versioned backups (as Potetz.esp.~nnnn), and the player file can also be edited to remove individual solutions fairly easily.
<Max> Oh man, sorry Brian! I feel terrible that I've caused you such woes, especially since you've dutifully solved it the intended way each time, but it was the only way to fix the level. Guess I should have issued a warning. The same method will work, though, if not the same exact set of moves, since you have to start off pushing...
<bpotetz> Ack! When I found I could not cntrl-0 this from v3 (I've always played it the intended way), I tried to open up a second instance of escape to copy off of (running Win2k), but it crashed when I opened the Deleted directory, and now it always crashes when I open Deleted, even if I only have 1 instance up. I guess I'll have to reinstall.
<Max> This is much tighter now, once again thankfully without having to sacrifice any of the level's intent. I even got to add in another mechanism to the pile ;). Thanks John for helping me clean this one up! |

<Max> This should be the definitive version of Button Blocker -- I can't imagine tightening it up anymore without losing the main point of the level. |

<Tom 7> Interesting. I didn't think I changed anything for the case when there are no traps. My solution stopped verifying, too, so I should check to see what happened.
nLogic's original solution on the server still works, though, so this level is still solvable.
<Max> One of the recent rule changes must have affected something in this level, because this level no longer counts as solved for me; my original solution doesn't work anymore. |

Holey Transporter! (v4) |

<Max> Much more rigid than its predecessors -- unfortunately, I wasn't able to cook this one again ;). A pretty cool, straightforward and easy puzzle. |

<Max> Just a possible bug note: when I tried to upload this new version (after deleting v2), it gave me an error -- I think it was "bad lev" 404 or something -- and said it failed. After trying again, it gave me another error saying there was already a level with the exact same title. So I updated levels, and it turns out it had actually uploaded after all. |

Holey Transporter! (v4) |

<Milton> I'll try alternate connect, although I think it didn't work when I tried it before. I'm behind a firewall at an office, so it may just be something particular to my situation that I've got to live with.
As far as commenting, it's possible that I was trying to use a version in mylevels to comment that I had already messed around with - turning it into what would become v4. I'll try to pay more attention to this and let you know if it's really anything. It's probably just related to the other thing - since I don't have the files in triage, I have to comment on them in mylevels or else wait for them to show up. No biggie.
Thanks for your help!
<Tom 7> I could see how that might happen, if you are accessing the web through a caching proxy. It might keep an old version of the file that describes the current level collection.
Using 'alternate connect' in preferences might fix it, because often the proxy is only on the web port, 80.
I don't understand the commenting problem, though. What happened when you tried to comment on the deleted v3? Is it possible that you were commenting on a level with the same name but slightly different contents? (when you comment, it uses the exact identity of the file to find which one you're talking about, not the name or anything like that).
<Milton> FYI - right after typing that long explanation of my problem I was able to download recent levels. (~9:45am EST). I hadn't been able to download new levels all yesterday afternoon and this morning until now.
<Milton> Doom - yeah, sadly, these guys forced me into sectioning-off the whole level with those rough patches =)
<Milton> Tom - The only things that seem to be wrong are (1) I cannot download new levels until some amount of time after they've been uploaded. It's weird - sometimes it will be a few hours, sometimes a couple of days. I check the site for comments and I always glance at the most recent levels list to see if I should download any. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. And (2), sometimes escape acts a little weird when I delete levels . . . for example, I can upload comments for deleted "Holey Transporter (v2)" and for the as yet undownloaded v4 (using my "my levels" list), but not for the deleted v3. Weird. It's not that big of a deal because I can always get the new levels eventually and work around the comments issue, but since you asked . . . =) |

<Max> John, you totally cooked this level! Damn, nicely done, but I don't know how I missed that. Glad you enjoyed it but you may like this level even more the real way so I'll upload a fix. |

<John Lewis> After seeing Brian's solution to the previous version of this level, I've decided to make it even tighter... |

<Tom 7> It didn't show up? You should be able to upgrade and update on any platform now, so if not, then let me know because there must be a bug. |

<Milton> v3 hasn't shown up on my triage list yet, or I'd have left this comment there and then deleted it. I'll delete it as soon as the game allows me to download it there.
Max - thanks for uploading your solution.
Tom - sorry for once again needing so many versions, and thank you very very much for giving us admin access to our own levels - I would hate to have to pester you for every single mistake I make - especially when I make so many =). |

<Milton> v3 should fix Dorothy's cook - was yours the same, Max? You didn't upload your solution, so I couldn't fix it specifically. |
