<bpotetz> Wow. If I'm an expert, than you must be too, Max. I play a lot of levels, but you write a lot, and writing is harder.

I should write some more levels.

Probably Tom knows a couple things about escape, too.

Knights and Rotations Thu 14 Apr 2005 23:37
<bpotetz> (SPOILER) Congratulations, mjn. Good job. I also solved it using some symmetric circuits.
<mjn> (SPOILER) Hey, this wasn't so bad, actually--I found that the rotation squares made it easy to splice circuits together.

Still took a good half hour to work it out on paper, though! Nice level...

<Max> I agree, Joshua. I think ratings should be tabulated separately, among those who have solved the level and those who haven't. This would be a little complicated, but often the style of a level is highly dependent on the solution. And it's pretty much a guess to rate rigidity before having solved a level. Really the only reason to rate a level before solving it is to express that you are having trouble solving it.

Group Hug Thu 14 Apr 2005 23:16
<Max> You sure can!
<sarah> Can I vote this as "cutest level"?

Handmade 013 Thu 14 Apr 2005 23:06
<Max> (SPOILER) IQ Carrier is pretty tough to beat. Come to think of it, I think you're the only official Escape "Expert", Brian. ;)

Single File Thu 14 Apr 2005 23:03
<Max> (SPOILER) This is the second version of "Single File", made to outlast the orginal, "Pre-broken" version, which will likely be but a memory in the Broken directory after Tom executes the Final Solution to the Dalek Question.

Single File (pre-Broken version) Thu 14 Apr 2005 22:58
<Max> Enjoy it while it lasts, kids!

The Dalek Question Thu 14 Apr 2005 21:33
<Max> (SPOILER) That's what I suspected... Might as well make bug reports creative though, eh? ;) Still, part of me will miss this unexpected behavior...

Thanks a lot, Hugbot (advanced?) Thu 14 Apr 2005 21:32
<mlc> (SPOILER) I kind of think Max's solution (which is like mine) is actually the intended one, not a cook, as I couldn't solve this any other way...
<mlc> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 71 moves (old: 87).
speed record

Handmade 013 Thu 14 Apr 2005 21:18
<bpotetz> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 698 moves (old: 712).
Not quite as bad as IQ CARRIER, I guess.

Thanks a lot, Hugbot Thu 14 Apr 2005 21:10
<mlc> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 164 moves (old: 170).
speed record

Handmade 004 Thu 14 Apr 2005 20:49
<bpotetz> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 91 moves (old: 123).
Some of these are easier than others.

Handmade 002 Thu 14 Apr 2005 20:39
<bpotetz> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 105 moves (old: 137).
These are pretty neat.
So, I'm still a bit confused. Are nushae & Yoshio Murase the same person, or not?

The Dalek Question Thu 14 Apr 2005 17:09
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Answer to question: Bug!

This is a very slick level, though. But this behavior makes no sense, so I really ought to fix it. Thanks and sorry, max...

Autogenerated 021 Thu 14 Apr 2005 16:58
<bpotetz> That's a good idea. For the second one you'll probably have to do some math first, though.
Although the first one has been solved, neither one has a speed solution yet, and since all solutions are roughly equal length, whoever solves it next can be immortalized. That's my word of motivation for the day.
Why am I talking about this here?

Sokoban Nightmare Thu 14 Apr 2005 16:52
<bpotetz> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 512 moves (old: 602).
As long as I have the speed record...
This is a fun level - not as nightmaric as I feared.

Autogenerated 021 Thu 14 Apr 2005 15:04
<Tom 7> I've been working on it, in photoshop (has better 'undo' than graph paper!)
<bpotetz> Oh, come now! The knight's tour levels aren't so bad, at least the first one. Try it on some graph paper first and you'll get it quick enough.

Sokoban Nightmare Thu 14 Apr 2005 11:48
<John Lewis> This level was adapted from the puzzle game Pocoman. I added the part with the green block and transporter, and, of course, the location of the panels and exit door. Just to let everyone know, the next several levels I make will be original. :-) Enjoy!

Dalek Research Lab Thu 14 Apr 2005 09:21
<Joshua Bone> It sorta irks me when people rate levels they haven't solved...

Breathe Thu 14 Apr 2005 08:58
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 121 moves (old: 175).
Probably cooked this one.

Claustrophobia II Thu 14 Apr 2005 05:33
<Thanerik> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 26 moves (old: 30).
Wee... I am the fastst :D
After 83 sloved mazes I go for the record!!
