<Max> Very cute and well-designed!
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Very cute. I hope you used the new panel tool for this! It would be slightly better if the arrows were in the right DDR order, which is left down up right. ;)
BTW, there is another level that has already used this theme, somewhat less literally.... |

<Feanor> I'm Sorry I offended everyone. I honestly intended it to be a respectful tribute to the 343 firefighters who died on 9/ 11. |

<mjn> On second thought, I should not abuse the cook system. This *is* a bit tasteless, though.
<mjn> (SPOILER) Cook: reporting a cook only to show my displeasure |

<mjn> Wow, this is a cool level.
I don't see any other way to do it, either. (When Ctrl-D in the solution manager doesn't do anything, that means your solution is the exact same as the original/speedrun, right?) |

<dodo> (SPOILER) Cook: Instead of using the green wire thing, I just pushed one of the grey blocks at the beginning im front of the laser. I then pushed a wire on to the button to reveal the exit.

<Jane> This level is sick and tasteless, and "tribute" is a completely inappropriate word. |

<Tom 7> Man, hard...
<John Lewis> (SPOILER) Oops...I meant "So far, I haven't found any alternate solutions yet." :-) (ambiguous indefinite pronoun reference mistake...)
<John Lewis> (SPOILER) That's good...I was really worried someone would find a clever alternate solution to this one. Originally, I didn't even have a trap one space below and to the left of the left-most switch. Also, instead of two-way traps, there were gray blocks to fill up the holes (which didn't quite fit in with the color scheme :-)). Therefore, it was possible to push the two green blocks on the bottom left corner, go all the way around to the top and around to the middle bottom area, and finish with one trap left over. (The intended solution uses every single trap.) So...I added in the extra trap on the left side (which made the level even more confusing and caused me to wonder if there was another solution lurking out there). So far, I haven't found any yet. Thanks, Doom! |

<John Lewis> (SPOILER) Yeah, I noticed the "cook" when I did the 78-move speedrun...I wonder if I should do something about it.
<Doom> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 59 moves (old: 60).
And a massive optimization to the end.
<Doom> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 60 moves (old: 70).
More optimizing.
<Doom> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 70 moves (old: 78).
Cook: You can use the bot to replace one block. |

<Doom> (SPOILER) Now that I look at it more closely, the level seems to be more rigid than I thought at first. No. I don't think that there are other solutions anymore.
<Doom> My solution was exactly as long as the original. I have no idea if there are different solutions but in a level like this, it's surely a possibility.
<John Lewis> So far, I've found only one way to solve this level. If anyone manages to come up with a different solution, please upload it! |

<John Lewis> Hopefully a better use of the block puzzle from "Drawing the Line." :-) |

<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 109 moves (old: 114).
Cook: Also, you can beat it by just blocking the lasers. (There goes my cleverly optimized speed record..)
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 114 moves (old: 130).
Well, it's kinda fun to speed run, but this level is too easy to solve with 'undo' around and I think even the "real" solution is too transparent, since the title just tells you. Perhaps it would be better if it was less clear which panels were useful and which were useless? |

<bpotetz> (SPOILER) > A 18th panel could be added two squares above the 17th.
Yeah, true. I didn't want to add any more cheat-panels than already existed, though. Anyway, this was a fun original concept, Doom.
<bpotetz> Phew! Thanks, noname - good job. That certainly is not the hardest level ever, but I'm claiming the title for longest unsolved level, at 98 days. Who dare challenge me?
I guess maybe I should submit some new levels, now that mine are all finished. Maybe over vacation I will. |
