Extraction Sun 10 Jul 2005 23:34
<Tom 7> The server is indeed full and will be unfilled momentarily.
<John Lewis> Maybe noname's records somehow overloaded the server! ;-)
<Max> I'm getting the same message for uploading a new level as well. I'm guessing the server's full?
<John Lewis> I'm getting the same message (as Dorothy) when trying to upload a new record for this level...

I love Gold! Sun 10 Jul 2005 18:48
<Dorothy> I got 104 moves on this one beating the 116 moves speed record, but when I try to upload it, I get an error message: Upload failed (bug) bad solution.

Let's Just Be Friends (v3) Sat 09 Jul 2005 16:20
<Max> Ahh, finally got this one! Certainly way harder than it looks. Nice job!

Jumps (v6) Sat 09 Jul 2005 15:42
<Max> (SPOILER) I'm relieved your speedrun, while much faster than the original, wasn't a cook on this one, noname...

Time Trap (Maximum Security version) Sat 09 Jul 2005 15:40
<Max> (SPOILER) I don't think that's really a cook, noname -- it doesn't really evade the crux of the level enough for that. But still, nice speedrun!

California Roll + Extra Wasabi Sat 09 Jul 2005 15:28
<mjn> Wow, noname, you are the king of speedruns...

Knight's Tour Sat 09 Jul 2005 15:22
<mjn> I'm the one who solved it, but I cheated (I have a graph theory textbook with a knight's tour on the cover). I didn't feel right claiming the speedrun under those circumstances...

Knights and Rotations Sat 09 Jul 2005 12:35
<noname> (SPOILER) I solved it by noticing the following:

Claim: If the board can be divided into two halves such that:

(i) One of the halves, when rotated 90 degrees, becomes the other half;

(ii) There is a reentrant knight's tour in one of the halves;

then there is a solution to this puzzle.

Proof: Just identify the two halves. In more detail, just follow the knight's tour in one of the halves: move normally when moving from red to black; and when following the KT from black to red, one just rotate to the other half, make an appropriate knight move, then rotate back to the first half.

So it remains to find a way to split the board into two halves satisfying (i) and (ii). It turns out that when I solved KT, I used eight circuits which has rotational symmetry among them, and I just need to join four of them to yield a solution.

Knight's Tour Sat 09 Jul 2005 12:28
<noname> Just wondering, why didn't anyone claim the speed record? (There is certainly someone who solved this before me, and it is clear that any solution optimized to the same length...)

Time Trap (Maximum Security version) Sat 09 Jul 2005 12:25
<noname> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 108 moves (old: 112).
I suspect this might be a mild cook.

Riddle Of Steel Sat 09 Jul 2005 12:13
<noname> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 284 moves (old: 466).
When I first solved this, I was just trying to figure out the destination of each panel, and when I have the last panel hit, a path to the exit just magically appears...

Five Alive Sat 09 Jul 2005 12:12
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) noname: impressive! That seems shorter enough that it might be a cook? I'll have to check it out...

Don't Get Stuck Fri 08 Jul 2005 19:21
<Doom> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 143 moves (old: 147).
Nice trick, but not very difficult to find out.

Build a Bridge to the Exit Fri 08 Jul 2005 17:34
<Max> (SPOILER) Added solution "Untitled":
A little tightening
<Max> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 68 moves (old: 71).
Pretty and easy.

Walk the Plank and Drop Anchor Fri 08 Jul 2005 14:08
<Max> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 523 moves (old: 564).
I haven't played this one in ages. Man, this is a weird level. I know I had some elaborate intentions for using the sphere and gold block, but they're pretty much unnecessary and I have no idea what I was thinking. In retrospect, those panels are kind of annoying. Oh well. I'm sure this isn't the definitive speedrun, but I feel compelled to have the speedrun on as many of my own levels as I can...

A bit of everything Fri 08 Jul 2005 13:41
<Max> (SPOILER) 154 is my best, too -- sadly, I think this is a total cook, since I didn't use the button at all. This is easy to fix by replacing the plain tile behind the green switch with rough. This level certainly stands the test of time, even though it uses what now seem like fairly rudimentary tiles.

Walk the Plank and Drop Anchor Fri 08 Jul 2005 13:19
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 564 moves (old: 578).
Optimized my old solution a little.

A bit of everything Fri 08 Jul 2005 07:47
<Doom> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 154 moves (old: 156).
This speedrun has been improved surprisingly many times.

bottrap mirror Thu 07 Jul 2005 16:26
<Max> (SPOILER) Cook: The obvious one.

Feel the Love Thu 07 Jul 2005 16:25
<Max> (SPOILER) This definitely amplifies the love factor of the level, but the heart framers make it even easier and less rigid since they help control bot movement.

bottrap mirror Thu 07 Jul 2005 12:47
<Feanor> (SPOILER) Cook: I used the cook that everyone with a brain did.
