My Fair Weather Friend Wed 13 Jul 2005 16:41
<Zoogie> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 66 moves (old: 74).
Ugh, I got hung up on that last bit of maneuvering.

<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Ahh, satisfying to dispatch. I was worried at the very end that I had missed something again!

The Jail House Wed 13 Jul 2005 14:46
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 67 moves (old: 68).
Optimized a little.
I think this particular cook could be fixed by changing the order of the two bots?
<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 68 moves (old: 110).
Yeah, you can make it back pretty easily.
<iain> (SPOILER) Cook: I completely ignored the right-hand side by going back to an exit on the left

<Tom 7> Damn! I separated the blocks without counting the number of gray ones, so I screwed myself. ;) This is a nice puzzle, though, which I will attempt again soon...

<Doom> (SPOILER) I agree with noname about the strict time limit thing. After all, isn't that what speedruns are for? My personal best is still 9 moves too slow but I'm having trouble finding additional shortcuts.
<noname> (SPOILER) 277s confirmed :)

Personally, I don't think it's good taste to give an extremely severe move limit to a Sokoban-style level. The original version for MSCC has a time limit of 350s, which should be more than enough even for the most hesitant player, and in fact, before John uploads this as an Escape level, no person other than him is able to solve it with 277s remaining (the best after him is 275s).

Of course, the MSCC version for this as well as Brokoban II is available at pieguy's website as "computer.dat". (And of course, MSCC refers to the version of Chip's Challenge which comes from Windows Entertainment Pack, and I'm actually talking about custom-made levels here.)
<Doom> My first attempt was about 44 moves too slow, second was 27 moves too slow. But I will get it ;)
<Tom 7> If you figured the route out on your own, then I rescind my complaint. =)

<Max> He may not be as good a friend as the hugbot, but he's still a friend!
<John Lewis> It would have been that easy if it wasn't a *dalek* in the center!!
<Max> Well, it's not much harder than the original, so don't worry! But, yeah, for serious.

Internal Clock Tue 12 Jul 2005 21:49
<John Lewis> No, the level was computer-generated, but the route I figured out on my own. Makes me wonder if there's more step=savers out there...
<Max> Man, a computer-enforced speedrun is pretty rough!
<John Lewis> (SPOILER) Sorry! This level is designed so that the solution would place the bot one space away from the panel as you're going into the exit. ;-)

If anyone manages to get something lower than 452...upload it! :-)

<John Lewis> You've got to be kidding me.

<Doom> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 69 moves (old: 999999).
Claiming another not yet claimed deleted level speedrun.

You're So Pushy, Hugbot Tue 12 Jul 2005 18:50
<Doom> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 61 moves (old: 117).
Nice improvement, although it's the old version.

Cat got your. . . Tue 12 Jul 2005 17:32
<Doom> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 75 moves (old: 83).
Propably not a new cook, because 7 people of 12 had reported their solution as a cook already...

My Friend Tue 12 Jul 2005 17:16
<Max> Fun and harder than it looks.

Looking Out For Number 9 Tue 12 Jul 2005 16:49
<Doom> (SPOILER) Yeah... I know how the movement order works. Maybe I was just being lazy.

Switcheroo Tue 12 Jul 2005 16:37
<Ajax> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 96 moves (old: 98).
Just a little optimizing

Jumps (mjn's variation v2) Tue 12 Jul 2005 16:26
<Max> Nice mod, mjn! Very tricky, even though I am extremely familiar with the basics of this level by now ;).
