<Mazur> (SPOILER) Ah, so "cook" in this context means something like "shortcut". That's ok, in the design I was thinking of those puzzles of 5x5 letter-square slides with one hole, and you had to slide all the letters in place to form a slogan.
But in Escape, you can't place a panel and another object in the same place initially, so I had to think of a way to move the balls in, and I provided the top-right panel to enable a fully closed puzzle.
The idea was not possible anyway, unless I had made a 25 long feeding column, and even then one can freely place balls when not fully filled yet.
And steels won;t work because yo can't shift half a steel column. |

<John Lewis> (SPOILER) The cook involves bypassing the panel in the top right corner - you don't have to worry about holding down the panels that activate the yellow block or the corridor it slides down.
<Mazur> Tom 7: Eh? I do not understand what you're saying. |

<mm> (SPOILER) Added solution "Martina's Solution":
OMG, now you called me like that as well... ;-)
<John Lewis> (SPOILER) Thanks for the compliment, Your Highness! :) I would love to see the alternate solution. It's funny, but while I was originally designing it, I was just hoping for it to be solvable...and then once it got to the final room, it turned out to be more "revenge"-ish than I expected. ;) Glad to know there's another way to solve it, though!
<mm> (SPOILER) Hi John, excellent level! It reminded me very much on pieguy's revenge levels... ;-)
My solution is slightly different than the original and I didn't touch one of the green blocks. Do you want me to upload it?
<Gil Anthony> yea I almost licked it but fell just a bit short, will try your 2nd level tommorow. |

Fri 18 Jul 2008 17:08 |
 |
<Gil Anthony> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 262 moves (old: 263).
One false move less than the other guy
<Mazur> I know, however, there's also a difference between an Escape level and something that can be totally bypassed. The intent of any level should be to pose a challenge, and when yuo find your challenges completely bypassed, the level is flawed. Mine still is, I knew that, but I'm learning...
<radiant> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 263 moves (old: 430).
You know, there is such a thing as "straining too hard to force the player's hand". |

<Mazur> As it is, I don't see how it can be solved. If only the teleport would put me just above instead of in the hugbot, I'd be home free.
