One small modification I wanted to make...

Another Chip's Challenge adaptation. Let's see who finds the trick to this one...

By the way, I have a new player number now - I bought a MacBook Pro and my old Mac Mini is stored away...hopefully I can transfer my old player file soon. :)

<wowei> i did it! :]

Especially the second part seemed impossible to solve at first.

one of the finest levels in my opinion

the wrong parity Sun 09 Apr 2006 19:33
<mjn> This is a really cool level, and fun to work out on paper. I am glad I did not cheat. (Of course, that means it'll probably be another month before I finish it!)

<mjn> Yeah, man, this is definitely a tricky one. I don't want to spoil it for you, but here's a strategy I've found helpful on many levels, including this one:

Try to rigorously prove things impossible (on paper, even, if necessary). Like, if you're thinking, "I don't think X can do Y", don't trust your judgement--try to prove outright that X can't do Y. Sometimes it can't, and then you can think clearer because there's one less thing to worry about; or sometimes it can, and finding a hole in your proof will lead you straight to the solution.

Originally this was a test to see how "moving" floors/platforms would work. However, I've decided to put this as a rough draft for great levels (maybe).

<mjn> This is really cool.
<Eric119> Just beat this. Cool level!
<Tom 7> Haven't solved this yet, but what a creative concept!
<John Lewis> Oh man...this is totally awesome.

towers of hanoice (4 discs) Wed 05 Apr 2006 01:25
<Doom> Yes, this is better. I didn't think about using spheres as "additional colours". About the long solution in the old one, 90% of it was running on long corridors. And the fifth disc added to the length as well. It went actually pretty fast despite the high number.

This is the only one of these 3 levels that doesn't seem to be cookable. Shouldn't the others be removed?

hmm, an even number of discs? - TOOOM, we need more colors! ;)

Oh yeah, that's the known trick.

I'll fix it in a week or so and reupload unless someone else has made a working version. (Some busy things to do in the next few days)
<Doom> I just noticed that there's a small design flaw. You can push one set of blocks to the top right or top left even when the first disc spot is full.

I'm not sure how serious that is. Should I delete this before too many people see it and make a fix when I have more time?
<Doom> Two-block sets would cause problems, because when you turn around, the colors will change order. This causes problems at least in this implementation.

That's why I made all of the patterns symmetric.
