<mark> (SPOILER) Added solution "The long way":
Why do i do every tough level the hard way, this was a crazy solution thanks for showing yours Jim here's mine.
<mark> Yes Jims solution is same as mine in around about way . Im sure adding original and speedrun you possibly end up with a spare piece.
But i also vote calling quits, this level has been fantastic fun.
If you want to start again changing the start and finish position should create a new puzzle.
Have no clue about facebook, never even spoke one word on the internet until this game.
<Dave> Mark, it's human nature to want to make harder each time, and I'm as guilty as anybody else. But the concept has been proven now, so next time...
<Dave> Cheers Jim, and nice solution.
We currently have 4 levels from this thread left in triage, all considered, I think that is a sensible amount given the combined effort that has been put in.
Not sure about the other thread. It's tempting to go back to wowei's mod and take all the other stuff out, but, personally, I feel like a clean slate.
Any ideas on the rules?
<Jim> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 1460 moves (old: 2376).
A slightly easier way, I loved this mod and vote for it to be the ultimate version. I'm not a FB person, so for me I prefer all comments to stay here, it is so easy and covenient. |

<Dave> Just checked, it's had one comment in 3 years! Might as well do something useful with it...
<Dave> That is a very good point. I think this discussion needs to carry on elsewhere otherwise we will clog up feedback and level comments, as well as the graveyard. Escape facebook page seems to be working...
<mark> Yes a new template would be good,i have been thinking about it quite a bit.
Your right about the other threads they more levels on ther own.
N7DOT'S starter does not leave much space to do anything with .
Why i think we are the mods got stuck in a pattern early is no one was adding tiles for creative reasons, just trying to make it harder evry time.
If a new template is started we have to add style as well as difficulty when modding.
Perhaps the first 3 or 4 mods should add to the background, then start on the puzzle aspect.
<Dave> Hi Mark,
I suppose it could be made even harder, but I'm not sure it would add any value.
I haven't optimised the solution at all, I just uploaded as soon as I cracked it, so I expect it could be shortened considerably. Even so, I think this has to be the limit, any longer and we lose the fun factor.
I reckon we give it a couple of days for the dust to settle and then see if anybody else wants to set a new template (N7DOT's one already has a predetermined style). It would be nice if could generate an entirely different type of puzzle.
What do you think?
<mark> (SPOILER) Done it thanks, but you make look so easy in your solution.
Just over 3600 moves for me,I still dont trust myself with double bots.
Made positioning of corner bot very awkward. |

<mark> Ps i wont delete until you say so.
Pps if i had not rated mm's level and left a teaser speed run mm might have been thinking it was really hard.
When i knew as a fact 4 or 5 people found it easy.
<mark> Hi Dave, been away from computer for a day come back to 3 mods and a new level.
I must thank you for your comments but i realized why you stopped rating and my remark was not aimed at you.
Struggling a little bit on your latest even though i have worked it out just cant complete it just yet.
Been going round in circles, now i have got brain ache thanks.
Its only a matter of time maybe tommorow with a fresh look and a clear head might finish it.
<Dave> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 1814 moves (old: 1934).
It doesn't really give anything away so... done.
<Dave> PPS. Please do not delete this one yet.
<Dave> (SPOILER) Hi Mark.
The only reason I didn't rate is because I already knew a solution, so it wouldn't really be fair.
I was going to upload this solution as a speedrun but decided it might be better to deploy it instead. Not because it's trickier, it's actually much much simpler, so probably easier to find, and definitely easier to work with inside a more difficult mod... I spent enough hours getting 12e3b to work at all (I had to solve it the hard way too!), the last thing it needs (assuming it doesn't get cooked) is any pointless or unnecessary complications. Anyway, as you are fully aware, we are only discussing a minor adjustment to one method, well, strictly speaking, it's exactly the same method deployed in a different place on the board inside exactly the same core solution.
Anyway, back to the point of this waffle. I do know what you mean about the frustration of people not rating. If I don't rate or upload a run you can be sure there is a good reason. If I solve and don't rate, I will always let you know straight away through comments. I hate being in the dark too.
PS. The undo button, no time limits and no hidden information: That's why I love this game. |

<Dave> (SPOILER) Oh well, I modded and deleted already. 12e3b should force a tighter solution, I nicked one of your ideas from 12g, but the basic concept is the same as 12e2.
If it works as planned, it adds one new challenge to the existing idea. If does allow a new cook which wont work on 12e2 then please let me know. If this is the case, then maybe we should re-instate 12e2 and call it quits.
To be honest, I fully expected 12e2 to get cooked. Maybe I got it right for once! |

<Dave> I did test the water about stopping before. And, yes given time, it would be possible to make this almost unsolvable. It is, however, a very successful concept.
If you think ths can be worked with noname and wowei (or any of the other old school masters) more involved from the start then I am definitely in favour of a new beginning. I would also really like to see Jim involved in the early stages.
As I said before, this evolved in a totally direction to what I anticipated and did settle on a fixed pattern slightly earlier than I expected too. Maybe the rules regarding the number of changes should be tightened a little and more strictly adhered to.
Would you do the honours, adjust the rules as you see fit and formally open the new Games? |

<Jim> Dave, 12e2 is alive and well. I had to modify it in order to make my solution work, it doesn't work on 12e2, believe me I tried! I made this to try to force my unique solution, but you managed to find another way, which was my fear. |

<Dave> Moved to graveyard:
Just in case
<mm> (SPOILER) Hey guys (and girls?): IMO, we should not exagerate playing the creation of new levels, the aim of our teamwork can't be to create "unsolvable" levels. We've had the intention to create some new great levels, right or wrong?
IMO, enough is enough. Let's play a new game!
(Someone just HAS to try to STOP this! Or else we'll be creating new "we are the mods" levels for ever.) I'm the Grand-Ma, and I hope you'll be listening to my statement.
I think it's time to start a new thing! This time, we'll do an even better job, right or wrong? And we might even get wowei and noname to play the game?! |
