I'm too ADD for this Sat 09 Sep 2006 19:59
<mason> (SPOILER) Cook: vbgggggghh

Traffic Jam Sat 09 Sep 2006 19:57
<KWM> (SPOILER) wikipedia has an article on sliding block puzzles. I have the Rush Hour game and I used it to help me test designs when I originally designed the layout of this puzzle.
<Tom 7> mm: there's a board game puzzle called "Rush Hour" that this is an embedding of. The level makes a lot more sense if you've seen it. ;)
<mm> (SPOILER) (PS: I'm mm, so almost one of the "MoMs", I could be a Grandma already, I just did not grow up with computers and all those games are kind of new to me, that's why I often just don't understand what "you guys" are talking about!)
<mm> (SPOILER) Sliding block puzzles in general? You seem to have created something like "Traffic Jam" a long time ago, maybe even before knowing about the escape game. So there must exist some classic sliding block thing - what and where could I learn more about classic sliding block puzzles?
<KWM> (SPOILER) Sorry for the confusion. I meant that the puzzle is based on sliding block puzzles in general. The exact layout is my own design.
<mm> (SPOILER) KWM, what is that "classic sliding block puzzle"? (BTW: Speedrun 520? It took me like a million of steps to finally get to the exit...)

Too small to cook?

<Mom1> I FINALLY got it. Thanks for the hints.
<Doom> No problem, go ahead. I actually have an improved v2 in my level directory that varies the beginning a bit and tries to fix the biggest cooks of this version.

However, there are still some ways to solve it trivially that I didn't manage to fix, so I've not uploaded it.
<mm> Doom, do you mind if I'd make a mod of this level?

<mm> (SPOILER) Hi KWM, thanx for answering, I've already been trying to solve it with less than 10 freed red blocks today, so I guess I'm on the right path?!
<KWM> (SPOILER) It's possible to free 9 blocks, but you're right that's not enough, you need ten objects. Read that again.
<mm> (SPOILER) Could someone please help me, too, I do have a huge " M(o)M"-problem with this level! (; 10 red blocks are not enough, how comes that the solution uses less??? I guess I'm missing something, but what???

<KWM> (SPOILER) Ok, I don't want to give it all away at once so I'll be a little cryptic. After you connect the wires for the red switch there's only one spot where you'll be able to stand to push the button. So first, you'll have to fill that in with something. Where should you stand to push it into place? You can't do it alone. Is there someone who could help you put things in the right spot at the right time?

P.S. please use the spoiler check box when discussing solutions

<mm> This is an excellent example of bot manipulation, great level, seems to be very "maxy" (:

<mom> Thanks for the comment to "The other Mom" but I had that part, still can't get my brain around the red switch. Really want to get this one to see the amazing solution by Doom and the cooks. BTW I noticed there are actually 3 Moms having problems here. It must really be a "MoM" thing. Maybe my 4 year old can get it. Thanks in advance.

<KWM> (SPOILER) 1 million cool point will be awarded to the first person to embed a rubik's cube. :)
<bpotetz> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 520 moves (old: 574).
Brilliant! Nice job, KWM!

<KWM> (SPOILER) Without going into too much detail: If you use the D and Y keys you'll see that the green slider will make the exit appear. To get the slider in place you'll have to manipulate the stop signs. So you'll need safe passage to the buttons that control those stop signs.
<Mom1> O.K. maybe it's a mom thing but I have also had a complete brain freeze with this level. I agree with the other mom, ANY SMALL hint would be more than a little appreciated at this point. PLEASE!!!

<Mom1> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 574 moves (old: 582).
<SPAM> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 582 moves (old: 656).
Very good!
I love this game, and this was a nice level, though it was indeed a bit confusing (I don't have a different idea to embed it, either). Well done!
(I guess this speedrun is not optimal, but I don't know)
