<Doom> This was certainly harder than I expected. Simple but still quite difficult.

Let's Just Be Friends (v3) Wed 27 Apr 2005 23:20
<mjn> uncooked.

Let's Just Be Friends Wed 27 Apr 2005 02:12
<Doom> How about moving it into the very funny category instead :D
<mjn> Oh my god, I can't *believe* I forgot to change that...

(please delete)

Bridge Out Redux Tue 26 Apr 2005 23:35
<Tom 7> This level is actually still solvable, but the solution that it was uploaded with doesn't verify any more. I think it was mainly intended as a bug expo.
<Joshua Bone> That HAS to be a bug...

Do Exits Dream of Electric Daleks? (v2) Tue 26 Apr 2005 19:11
<Max> Well you got me with this one...

Tutorial 14: Steel Tue 26 Apr 2005 17:54
<Max> You asked for it ;)
<Tom 7> Well, I can't claim that wasn't a proper dare. ;) OK, you got me!

Do Exits Dream of Electric Daleks? (v2) Tue 26 Apr 2005 16:42
<Tom 7> No -- in fact I will be quite happy if people find it harder. ;)
<OCTweak> Are you sure the difficulty is only 3 ?

Love is All Around Tue 26 Apr 2005 15:48
<Max> Nice and manageable...

Do Exits Dream of Electric Daleks? Tue 26 Apr 2005 14:53
<Tom 7> Oops! Thanks.. I fixed that blunder.
<Joshua Bone> Actually, I think this is a cook...

Tutorial 18: Heart Framers Tue 26 Apr 2005 00:35
<Tom 7> Huh, I'm surprised it wasn't fairly obvious, but maybe that is just my Lolo background. ;) I wanted to do it in one level, but the problem with things that affect exits is that you only get one chance to do something before the level is exitable! I'm interested in thoughts from others...
<Max> Wow, cool tiles. This tutorial is a good early challenge with them, but it doesn't really do a good job explaining quickly what they do. Maybe this should be preceded by a part 1 where there are only sleeping exits and hearts and no other variables...
<Tom 7> Adventures of Lolo fans should recognize this one.

Square Peg Mon 25 Apr 2005 22:17
<mjn> Whoops, forgot to mention: Tom, would you please delete this old version?

Square Peg (v2) Mon 25 Apr 2005 18:15
<Max> I think this is my favorite version of this one...

<Tom 7> Well, it would suggest at least that people haven't been sued for it, which is good. I should be able to at least safely have them up on the website, if not as part of the GPL'd Escape.

Unlike trademarks, copyright protection doesn't expire merely from lack of enforcement, even for 25 years. 25 years is also way too short for the copyright to expire on its own--that's something like 100 years, now. (This is assuming that sokoban levels can be copyrighted, which I believe they can.)

I wish the world were such that I didn't have to be a hardass about copyright stuff, but alas, it is. Anyway, part of the point of Escape is to create a game that everyone can play (and copy) without worrying about this kind of thing, so let's do it by making new levels. Thanks!
<nushae> Well... the existence of numerous shareare and freeware games that include the original levels would suggest so, wouldn't it?

Besides, any company still owning the rights to these levels and trying to excercise them, will have to explain why they haven't done so for well over 25 years now. Under such circumstances it becomes "pretty hard" (that's a legal term, ahem) to make a case...

But as I said, I won't upload anything not by me ;)
<Tom 7> I don't believe the original Sokoban levels are in the public domain; are they?

Autogenerated 052 Sun 24 Apr 2005 21:59
<Tom 7> I like Sokoban levels, and I'm happy to have more of 'em. (If you think there are too many new tiles, feel free to make interesting levels with whatever subset you choose! I think the fascination with bots is because they are only a few months old at this point.)

The only problem with levels that are copied off the web is with licensing; I'm trying to be careful not to have any copyright violations. Even if the levels are "freely available," that doesn't mean I can just include them in a GPL project.

Since Yoshio levels are good, I am going to include them in a web collection (but not with the original installer) so that players can download them. But if I get any complaints from the author, I'll have to remove them.

Stress Fracture Sun 24 Apr 2005 21:08
<Joshua Bone> I think this is my favorite Escape level yet! Very nice puzzle.

Hardest IQ Carrier (EXPERTS ONLY!!!!!!!!) Sun 24 Apr 2005 16:34
<nushae> So I solve the Carrier block part... walk up to the teleport... move left... get zapped. Great. Two days later I try again. Walk up to the teleport... what way did I go last time? Let's try walking left... DOH.
