Small is Beautiful (Hard) |

<Tom 7> This was pretty fun, but I think it'd be more fun without some of the useless distractions. It's awfully hard to keep track of all of the panels. |

<Tom 7> Not really a puzzle. |

<mjn> Nice one! Harder than it looks, too. |

<John Lewis> For me, the magic number is 100. ;) I still have some catching up to do with my old player file (I got it back!!) and a bunch of recent levels that I haven't solved... |

<Eric119> WOOt! I finally cracked this one. |

<Doom> Took me 2 restarts along the way, but now I'm finally done with this as well.
Definitely the best pure trapdoor puzzle ever. I never thought you could create something this interesting with so simple concept.
Pieguy, would you have anything against it if I converted this level into a DROD version? (Of course giving you credit for it)
Some people at CaravelNet forums might find this interesting. |

<Tom 7> The design reminds me of an old Motocross game for like Atari but I can't remember its name. (Also the Super Mario Kart level based on it.) |

<mjn> Whoa, impressive. I agree with these ratings, too. One day I shall solve this (still workin' on it intermittently)...
<John Lewis> Wow, someone finally solved it...this has got to be the hardest Escape level yet. I was wondering if it would beat out DT17 as the longest unsolved level... |

<Tom 7> I think this is a pretty slick embedding. |

Beat The Clock |

 |
<Tom 7> It is a nice clock, but I agree the level itself is too easy; I solved it my first time without even knowing what the panels did.
<Doom> The clock is cool, but the level itself is too simple. |

<John Lewis> You're right...
I just wanted to upload it because I thought the concept was pretty cool :) (and it was a "guessing" level that actually had logic behind it...)
<Doom> I think that this worked better in CC. There's no unlimited undo, so you're forced to think how the level works (unless you use trial and error a lot). It's too easy to cheat in Escape. |

<wowei> i did it! :]
Especially the second part seemed impossible to solve at first.
one of the finest levels in my opinion

<mjn> This is a really cool level, and fun to work out on paper. I am glad I did not cheat. (Of course, that means it'll probably be another month before I finish it!) |

<mjn> Yeah, man, this is definitely a tricky one. I don't want to spoil it for you, but here's a strategy I've found helpful on many levels, including this one:
Try to rigorously prove things impossible (on paper, even, if necessary). Like, if you're thinking, "I don't think X can do Y", don't trust your judgement--try to prove outright that X can't do Y. Sometimes it can't, and then you can think clearer because there's one less thing to worry about; or sometimes it can, and finding a hole in your proof will lead you straight to the solution. |

<mjn> This is really cool.
<Eric119> Just beat this. Cool level!
<Tom 7> Haven't solved this yet, but what a creative concept!
<John Lewis> Oh man...this is totally awesome. |

towers of hanoice (4 discs) |
Wed 05 Apr 2006 01:25 |
 |
<Doom> Yes, this is better. I didn't think about using spheres as "additional colours". About the long solution in the old one, 90% of it was running on long corridors. And the fifth disc added to the length as well. It went actually pretty fast despite the high number.
This is the only one of these 3 levels that doesn't seem to be cookable. Shouldn't the others be removed? |
