<devin> how do you make all of those malformings including this one?
<radiant> (SPOILER) The joke is pretty well lost if you're not familiar with Chip's Challenge, but the arrangement around the visible panel is meant to create the (untrue) impression that the panel actually controls a clone machine which would clone the top block into the second hole, only to ruin the illusion when the player actually goes to try it.
It's also a reference to a buffer overflow exploit in that game where you can trigger effects outside the grid, and in doing so write to their memory locations which actually control game state information, and even read the memory locations into the grid as tiles. That can lead to levels far, far more nefarious than this or anything in the Malformed Levels series.
<devin> (SPOILER) found em' but whyd u call it a clone machine its not clonin anything and is the dot thats boxede in a confusion to the player?
<radiant> (SPOILER) The jig's been up on this one long enough, and I can't see it staying in the main collection much longer, so I might as well put it out there.
This level contains invisible panels. Furthermore, the nature of invisible panels is such that you can't uncover them with your feet alone.
<devin> help S.O.S
<devin> this is surely impossible for me unless there is a malforming other than that im always stuck |

<radiant> I wouldn't so much call this "easy" or "hard" as say that it defies all sense of a difficulty rating. The first four ratings are 10, 4, 1, and 7, and I can see the merit in every one of them.
<LIL GANGSTA > (SPOILER) Gary it's not hard at all.Just try anything and you'll start to see the solution.

<Tom 7> (SPOILER) Very nice, very illegal. :)
<John Lewis> I've been able to solve it - and I'm using the latest version of Escape on Mac OS X. (By the way, the player file recovery was successful - thanks, Tom!)
<gary> Tom, please move this level to quarrantine as this is impossible. |

<Tom 7> Oh, you scoundrel! :)
I did know this was possible but figured I was safe. You're right, the sanitizer should reject this level for violating the bots before bombs numbering rule. Thanks for pushing the envelope...
<radiant> (SPOILER) I can't guarantee that the level sanitizing function will keep this solvable in future versions of Escape, not least because I'm not Tom and thus don't control the source code.
In any case, this is just a proof of concept that'll end up deleted soon, and...do we really have to go all the way back to "Modern Art Gallery" to find a level that was uploaded in a form that couldn't be made from within the editor? |

I can't say this is the tightest level I've ever seen, but I do like how it seems that at first you can just skip all the puzzles...until you get to "that" room. Maybe it was just my expectations. |
