Modular Thinking 13 Wed 12 Jun 2013 16:50
<Dave> (SPOILER) I did consider leaving it up but I deleted it because of the mistake I made which 14 and 15 exploit. In 16 it is fixed (at least I think it is) so this became obsolete.

<mm> (SPOILER) I'm desperately trying to solve the latest mod levels as well as the red balloon... No clues at all! :-( I think I will give up for the moment.

<mm> Dave, it is a pity that you've deleted this level!

<Jim> (SPOILER) I didnt try it, but you would have to put a check mark to get the quarantined levels in order to get the Revenge of the malformed levels. It also may depend on what level of Escape you have whether you can actually still get those levels.

a revenge on the computors 3 Wed 12 Jun 2013 14:01
<Jim> (SPOILER) This is the way I did it originally, it figures I did it the harder way.

<mark> (SPOILER) Wow do i feel mighty right now , i've been after that level for months, thanks for your hints Dave but they only really made sense when it was done.
I had a brainwave yesterday and changed the blue blocks to red,i was then able to solve after about another 2 hours.
Yet again i did not do it the right way.

Revenge of the malformed levels,i saw all the comments about a month back and really wanted to take a look at them.
I dont have them or cant find them is there any way of getting them.
<Dave> PS. For anybody who doesn't know what I'm talking about: See comments on 2641,2,3,5,6,7 and 3128 for an explanation.
<Dave> So 19 Oct 2009 it is, and they are not recovered solutions. The first triage level I remember solving is Shark Tank and that also has the same date. QED

That coincides with my recollection of the Revenge of the Malformed Levels series being right at the top of the list the first time I updated. Obviously, I was utterly clueless at the time, and they got banned pretty quickly. Only went back and did them a couple of years later after being prompted in a comments chat with radiant. Definitely, a fun little exercise when you fancy a break from 'ordinary' levels.

Avalanche (mod2) Wed 12 Jun 2013 04:37
<Dave> Tutorial 1: 19 Oct 2009. Now I know how long I've been playing!
<Dave> 3 Nov 2010. You know, I never noticed that!
<Jim> (SPOILER) I have an incredible memory!

Oh, and of course if you look at the bookmark of a finished level, it gives you the time and date that you completed it.
<Dave> Jim, I have to know... How can you remember the date you did a level over 3 years ago?
<Jim> (SPOILER) THat was fun to do again, I originally did it in Jan of 2010.

<Dave> Ah, I thought that might be the case! I've only got computer.dat and pi.dat. Will keep trying. I'm intrigued by the other 11 rooms.
<mark> (SPOILER) Hi Dave acording to chips wiki its in Pi^2.dat.
Nice solution i was trying third last room like that and could not see that way was possible.
<Dave> (SPOILER) That's a blast from the past!

The new avalanche only required minor adjustments of old runs. With this series, things are tightish until you hit the bottom right room where you can pretty much shuffle the deck any way you please.

I'd leave it up for now and see what the others think.

Funnily enough I was looking for the original Avalanche 2 after your comments before. Anyone know which level in which level set? I've only got a couple of Pieguy sets. His website seems to be down or I'd just go and grab the lot.

Avalanche (mod2) Tue 11 Jun 2013 16:32
<Dave> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 1688 moves (old: 1883).
First solve, not tidied up.

<mark> (SPOILER) Well as you know i never solve the easy way,so i have made a mod of "avalanche" which is a mix of me solving 1 & 2.
Dave could you let me know if its a worthy mod or not, as i do value your opinion and i'm not easily offended.
If not worthy of this already great level i will delete.
Thanks have some fun.

<mark> (SPOILER) Hi Dave thanks for that advice, cut copy and pasted into notepad i will be going over it with a great deal of rigour soon.
At the momment i'm hooked into "avalanche" done 1 today and 2 this week noname mod next.
These are levels i thought i'd never do as not really a block pushy person.
Well as someone mentioned chips challenge i looked into it,found out the pieguy originally made these so to get a feel for his games i've gave them a good go.
No need to play cc as there is lots on youtube to watch.
There is a chips wiki channel and a J B Lewis playthrough channel which is quite interesting.
I had a little go on the game but dying and having to start over i dont like.
Any how when i watch the speedrun and originals of avalanche they are done a whole lot easier than i made them.
Avalanche 2 i made harder for myself by putting all 4 grey blocks in last room first.(try it if you haven't allready)Then watched your speedrun make it look easy.
Finding these new levels to play and being hooked on trying to get a pieguy done i've fell behind on mods, catch up soon if i can.

Ps there is some real good players over there in chips land and recognize some of the names from here.

Pps Jim im going to score RotRb 8 8 6 it is a very good level, but i'm kicking myself for knowing.Would have been a mind bender for me of that i'm sure.

Play Escape v2.0 Tue 11 Jun 2013 02:32
<Dave> Analysis of the speedrun results clearly suggests that inebriation may actually be beneficial in this particular case. It's 6PM here now, so I'll go to the fridge and raise a toast to your little pixelated pixel guy!

I don't think I'll attempt to reclaim the record this time.
<Jim> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 943 moves (old: 954).
Your guy looks organized Dave, mine just looks drunk!

<Dave> Did I just write that sentence? I think I may have contracted an acute syntax infection.

Immediacy Tue 11 Jun 2013 00:10
<Dave> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 75 moves (old: 131).
You may be placing the tiles alone but you don't appear to be debugging it alone :)

Modular Thinking 16 Mon 10 Jun 2013 23:21
<Jim> (SPOILER) Good, I hate when extra pieces are around.

Mods chat level Mon 10 Jun 2013 16:36
<Dave> (SPOILER) PS. Any more than one move in and you can't manoeuvre properly. The level is basically solved (or not) in the first 150 moves to get the left side sorted right, the rest is routine putting the blocks away.
