Mods chat level Sat 02 Nov 2013 22:17
<Dave> (SPOILER) Hi Mark. I found the new Locker level way simpler than the previous ones. I found the blue actually helps rather than hinder and opens up more options because it allows more manoeuvrability. Will look into it more tomorrow if I have a chance. Try and solve without ever putting the the blue steel on the blue panel and you will see what I mean.

<N7DOT> (SPOILER) two lazers makes it hard to utilize the more-spacious right half so one might go.. I think I'll be keeping the left one

<mark> Not from me there's not I had 136.
Well done on getting them all...
<Dave> (SPOILER) Well I've shattered the speed record on Maze Runner III by an amazing 1 move! Is there more?
<mark> (SPOILER) Nice level Dave i might not have solved so soon without the hint.
Did it slightly different and a little quicker but all the major pieces exactly the same great spot by you.

Ps there is a speedrun to catch for someone in maze runner III.
<mark> (SPOILER) Well it's very nice to have you back Dave, you had been gone quite a while i see you have been busy catching up and great speedruns.
Glad you liked the Red locker room levels as i really enjoyed (struggled) with Jim's version.
When playing Jim's version i found a couple of different things to do and was hoping you might have a mod coming.
Was not expecting it to be revampired, haven't played it yet but i'm about to.
As for kicking myself maybe just a subtle one i know what you are on about and just resigned myself to the fact it did not matter.
As i have said before the mods came as i solved the levels, except rouge which i'd been playing around with for months only to mess it up last minute.(wonky mouse control)
I still think it's a good fun level and i'm off to try and solve your version..
VM21 is very painful and i'd even given up on it until Jim's subtle clue.On the whole it must be one of the hardest levels i've ever solved and if it was not part of a series it for me would have been impossible.
Thanks good luck to all.
<Dave> (SPOILER) Hi all, it's been a while. Hope you are all well. If you haven't guessed, I've been extremely busy with other projects.

Have managed to catch up on most of what I've missed, only VM21 and The Worst Is Behind You Again to go. I don't hold out much hope of cracking either quickly. I struggled with the predecessor of The Worst...

Continuing the discussion here: Yes, the Rouge level can be cooked. Any solution to 'Revampired' (it is Halloween) should work on 'Revampeed'. I think you may kick yourself a second time, mark. I am not planning on leaving 'Revampired' up indefinitiely but I thought you might enjoy being forced to solve it the other way.

Nevertheless, I really enjoyed playing it. Mark and Jim, I also really really enjoyed the Red Locker Levels, took me ages, good fun, and helped me get my Escape head working again. My solution was quite similar to Jim's in the end, it just had N-S and E-W phases swapped over at various stages.

The solution to Maze Runner III was also my original solve of II. Spotted the trick in Fourth Contact SBF quite quickly, nice cook, easy to find when your looking for it but I would never have spotted it otherwise.

Cheers, Dave.

<N7DOT> This level could likely be made more interesting by adding in more stuff, bu I'm not sure what the best approach is to doing this. obviously that bot could be used for something...
<Dave> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 22 moves (old: 24).
...!
<Dave> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 24 moves (old: 33).
Silly me. Sorry, everybody.

The Red Locker Room Revamp Tue 29 Oct 2013 23:27
<Dave> (SPOILER) Nice. I came up with quite a different solution. Took a while, I'm very rusty! It won't work on Jim's mod :(

Will keep it to myself until I've seen what Jim came up with. Lot's to catch up on...

<mark> (SPOILER) Nice shorter solution Jim,i never even noticed my error as i had only just solved 7 and had all 4 blocks in the corner at the time and i just rushed solution to post level 8.

<Jim> (SPOILER) This is evolving into Mod LIT I think. I agree with you Mark, they say necessity is the mother of invention and some of my best levels are when I was forced into finding a solution because I couldn't find the simpler one.

Mod it 7 Thu 17 Oct 2013 17:50
<mark> (SPOILER) A very elegant solution Jim,but it's funny what you find when forced into it.
I've done it completely different so mod coming soon.
I can easy mod out your solution but i dont want to make it obvious and give the game up on your solution.

<mm> (SPOILER) Hi Mark! " Your kind" of treating this level had already been a "cook" many years ago, i.e. level 849, and because of this someone had created that two times like level! ;-) But still I think your own new way to solve it is pretty elegant as well! I'll have to take a deeper look to it, I'm not yet sure if it will be cookable or not.

How about modding the newer mod-level? (I don't think that it would be my turn.)
<mark> (SPOILER) Hi mm, had a bit more time to look at rouge level again, i was in a rush last night when i deleted and reuploaded.(hence spelling mistake)
It was a genuine mistake the dot dissapeared but your very smart solution will still do with a little alteration.
I'd been playing with this level for quite a while trying to uncook it.Which i thought i done ,in a earlier version i turned all the walls blue so they could not be pushed when changing them back i slipped and covered up the dot and forgot to put it back.
I wonder how many more ways it can be done as the origanal has several just as good solutions.
Anyway thanks for loading your speedrun to show my mistake.
Good luck to all.
<mark> Yes Jim that level took me ages too,i had a bookmark halfway for over four months. Finally solving the wrong way as usual.
Anyway i've been working on another mod for quite a while for you to play.
It's nearly ready i'm just testing hopefully all the possibilities of it not going wrong.
Hope you and anyone else likes it,it will be up soon.
