Tutorial 17: Daleks Tue 03 Mar 2009 21:51
<gary> Nope, solutions and comments cannot be deleted.
<FrodoGreat> I'm truly sorry for the solution.
The dialog asked me to provide one, and I thought it might get into some sort of database, and oops, there it is on the web page. I think I was a little too excited...
Can I erase it?

<gary> A really nice speed record, but don't give the answer to everyone, FrodoGreat.

<FrodoGreat> This level is truly amazing. It's easy to solve, but very hard to find to fastest solution.

I'm sorry, it is not a good mod.

<gary> (SPOILER) I mean, I used in my Notepad program to tell me that there are 2 combinations in 1 remote, 4 combinations in 2 remotes, 8 for 3 remotes, and so on.
This result tells me that the number of combinations made is 2 to the power of the number of remotes. When there are 63 remotes, there are 2^63 combinations.
<gary> (SPOILER) It looks like there are 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 combinations, only one combination is made and the level is solved.

block cipher Sat 28 Feb 2009 05:11
<pieguy> cracking DES in less than a day was the result of the coordination of thousands of computers (including one built specifically for cracking DES), which enabled them to check 200 billion keys per second. so far the best i've been able to achieve for this cipher is 80k keys per second (per core) on my computer, meaning it would take an expected million cpu years for my computer to crack it.

<radiant> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 366 moves (old: 374).
<gary> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 374 moves (old: 378).
Anyone got this so far? It's 374 so far.
<gary> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 378 moves (old: 382).
Is this solution is the shortest?
<gary> (SPOILER) Added speedrun: 382 moves (old: 384).
I think that it is the lowest solution.

block cipher Fri 27 Feb 2009 05:30
<gary> I think that it may be not solved in 24 hours, but it can be solved about 100 to 200 days.
<radiant> Unsolvable? In a world where DES can be brute-forced in what, 24 hours?
<pieguy> 'block cipher' uploaded by pieguy:
probably unsolvable...
