Also, I hope that it is possible to solve in under 1000 moves (at least, if not more (ex. 500)). I didn't really test to see how much can be shaved.

<radiant> (SPOILER) Finally got around to solving the Ultimate Challenge, in a way that's similar in spirit to how this version came about. And then I had to do it all over again, as the details here demand a slightly different setup. I can only assume wowei is referring to the same thing. (Naturally, neither solution for me is Ctrl+0-compatible with the other.)
